Character's Full Name: Eryn Pashta
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Home Planet: Kessel
Allegiance: Jedi
Lightsaber Color//Weapon of Choice: She has a blue lightsaber. Her weapon of choice is actually a blaster. She's a good shot, and her forte of force powers is not predicting moves. In fact, she's notoriously bad at that. She can hold her own in a lightsaber fight... but she would much rather hold them off with one hand, and shoot them with the other. Or shoot them and save the trouble.
Preferred Rank: Initiate... she's so headstrong that most Jedi won't take her on as a Padawan >.>
Physical Description: Eryn is rather short and stocky, at 5' 3" and 133 pounds. It's mostly her solid build. She's very strong for her size, and pretty quick. She had long black hair, almost always worn down and loose, along with pale gray eyes. Her face is round and simple, and is either frowning or smiling.
In terms of clothes, Eryn wears the basic Jedi Initiate robes. She wears these around the Temple, and in the rare occasion that she leaves she'll wear more street clothes. How she got them is anyone's geuss.
One of Eryn's prominent physical characteristics is her sunglasses. Tinted sunglasses completely cover her eyes in light, and automatically adjust, depending on the strength of light. As it grows darker they become less tinted, until in a dim lighting they look like regular glasses. Eryn was raised on Kessel until she was 5 and during most of this time she was kept in complete blackness, so her eyes never fully developed. This is combined with the fact that she descended from a line of miners who were specially selected for good eyesight in the dark.
The eyes themselves look normal, yet are extremely sensitive to light. If these glasses are taken off and it's bright in the room, she's instantly blinded, in intense pain, and often tearing (though not exactly crying). Think of the times when you get a flashlight shone directly into your eye, yet it doesn't go away after a couple seconds. The sunglasses don't actually negate her eyesight, she can see perfectly clear, almost the same as if we were looking around without them. They simply filter out the harsher UV rays. The sunglasses have one other feature: Eryn can turn on infrared if she wants. Extremely handy in complete blackness, where even she can't see.
Personality: Eryn is well... not exactly your picture perfect Jedi. Not that she doesn't adhere to their ways, or believe them. Quite the opposite. She believes in Jedi Code with all of her heart, and tries her hardest to be a good Jedi. Yet she's just not naturally suited to being one, aside from her rather rare Force talents. Her personality is rough, headstrong, and the only Jedi trait she possesses is patience. She'll work for hours at something, and her nearly endless patience is the reason she hasn't walked out yet.
She's a hard worker and extremely dedicated, yet her rash tongue often gets away with her. She loves having fun, and she loves just being happy and sitting outside the temple, letting the wind blow through her hair. If one wants to find her, that's where to go. Part of this is related to Kessel, where she had never seen the stars until she left the planet. Yet this is mostly just a personal preference of hers.
Character History: Eryn was born on Kessel, that famous mining planet where some of the worst criminals in the world are sent. However, criminals weren't sent to Kessel until years from when Eryn sent her time there. It's a place where the surface is inhabitable, and anyone living there must stay in the blackness below. Why go to a planet like this? Spice. Eryn was descended from a line of miners. She is many generations down from the original miners, and she's been bred to have great eyesight in the dark, in exchange for poor eyesight in the light.
She was 5 when the Jedi came. They came and took some the miners who wanted off this rock, who wanted a better future than mining dangerous spice. One of the newcomers, a rather handsome human Jedi named Kron, recognized the spark of the Force in Eryn. He took her to the Temple, knowing that she was close to being too old, yet decided to try anyways. During the journey Eryn was completely crushing on the Kron, feeling that he was the one who saved her from the darkness and hard labor, not the group of Jedi as a whole. Kron couldn't get the girl to the Temple immediatly, so he instead took her under his wing for three weeks, Eryn following him like a shadow without a second urging.
It was during this trip back to the Temple that they learned of her extreme sensitivity to the light. She was faced with several options: Endure it until her eyes adapted. Yet she had already been in the harsh light for a week, and showed no improvement. She could get surgery, and artificially change her eyes. Yet she was scared of any kind of surgery, and was tired of being in pain, doomed to sit in a room with the lights dimmed and all alone most of the time. Kron who took her in saw this, and presented her with a gift when they reached the Temple. A pair of sunglasses that adjusted to the light. They are the original model of the one she wears today.
Eryn trained hard (being accepted after consideration), yet found her skills in things the other children could do lacking. Mostly moving things with her mind. If this wasn't bad enough for her, Kron left the Temple on missions, leaving her behind for weeks at a time. While he did always come back to visit, he seemed to have less and less time to talk to and guide her.
It was a bad time for Eryn, until she was 9 and she finally found her latent abilities(see Force Powers Breakdown in Other). Now discovery was made, and through long hours and patience and dedication, she managed to keep up with the rest of the classes. Even though she finally "fixed" her problems with her Force powers, she now had a new problem. Her years of trying to get better had left her with a rather stubborn and willful personality. Hardly the calm and serene person that she felt she has to be. Because of her personality and only barely rudimentry skills in the Force, she was passed up for a Padawan again and again. Now she's looking at leaving the Temple without ever become a true Jedi, something extremely disappointing for her.
Employment: I don't think she has one... she shares in duties at the Temple, yet her main job is studying and getting better.
RP sample: Soft footsteps resounded off the walls, the rustling of clothes was just barely audible. A short girl turned the corner of the hallway with a determined stride, like she was going somewhere. The truth was that Eryn wasn't, she was simply hoping that by looking official the dumb boys would leave her alone. They always taunted her when the masters weren't looking, calling her Glasses Girl and making fun of her miserable lack of control when moving things using the force. Maybe it wouldn't hurt so much if they weren't right. This was why she was never picked by a Jedi Knight, she just sucked at being a Jedi.
The only good side in her day was that Kron was due back soon, her friend was always a comfort and relief. At one point, when she was much younger, she had thought he was best man in the galaxy. While she no longer was attracted to him (a effect of Jedi training), she was still quite fond of him and looking on him as a father. If only he didn't have a Padawan of his own, then he would take her on. Then she could work on being a good Jedi, and show the dumb boys what for.
The stocky girl flipped a strand of long black hair over her shoulder, reaching up and pressing a small button built into her tinted glasses. The infrared was turned on, and Eryn paused as she checked for any heat signatures, along with reaching out and feeling for presences. This hallways was clear, so she moved on and made for her room. Then she could meditate and practice even more.
Other: Force Powers This is a breakdown of Eryn's natural talents and current abilities in the Force. Eryn's natural tilt in abilities is actually somewhat rare for the Jedi. She's a natural master(or would be with more training and experience) of illusion and absorbing energy. What does this mean? First, Eryn can slip into someone's mind and manipulate it quite easily, because this is how illusion is caused. She can also absorb energy. This is the rarest natural ability she has. Very few Jedi can do this without intense training and some natural tilt towards it. She has a lot of natural tilt towards her. She can absorb heat and (if she really tries and still gets burned in the process) blaster bolts. This ability is less than perfect in her, and she does have to safely find an outlet for the energy or else she risks frying her insides. At the Jedi Temple she's pretty much not allowed to do this, not without being under the strict supervision and guidance of a Master.
Now onto weaknesses. While she does have some nifty natural talents, she also has some pretty gaping weaknesses. While Eryn can manipulate minds to cause illusion, good luck to her reading them. She's notoriously bad at predicting moves in battle, though she can do it well enough to get by. This is part of the reason that she prefers blasters over lightsabers. The other weakness is one of the Jedi's hallmarks: moving things using the Force. She can barely get a chair in the air, let alone anything bigger. Smaller things can be lifted, yet not easily moved from their initial position in the air. Eryn is sometimes made fun of, being 17 and still unable to perform past rudimentary tasks in this area. She often retaliates by making them believe that they have no clothes on >.>
