Through the ever-so plain doors, a traditionally robed character stepped, stopping only briefly. Eyes, framed in black hair, cast a sweeping glance about, nothing short of oblivious to the current residents. The tall figure manoeuvred between the tables, drifting in and out of the reach of others. The nimble footwork carried him over to the plates of food, placed in such a perfect symmetry it almost encouraged surfeits. Alain scrutinized the food meticulously, and - with obvious disdain – found himself choosing something of green substance. A moment later, his body rested by a table, only accompanied by two other individuals – Jedi Masters.
Inclining his head politely before silently resuming the ingesting of whatever he was currently eating, the padawan could not help but listen to the worried voices next to him, endorsed in deep conversation. The whispers indicated a certain secrecy, something that only made ears sharpen substantially. What was now to be revealed? Concentration was broken as a silhouette ambled into view, clearly heading for the seat next to him. Schooling his expression adequately, Alain lifted his finely cut chin in order to see the approaching figure.

She moved with a grace and certainty only obtained through years of the same old deal. Nods and bows, stiff smiles and a light pace, hoping not to be burdened by small talk. Jedi Master Hinata Riya entered the semi-crowded cafeteria, weaving through the sea of cream colored turbans and excited voices, all engrossed in their own conversations. She wore the same attire as the rest of the Jedi Order, though with slightly higher boots and clothing just a shade darker.
The food being served at counters that lined the room was the usual, though she'd had enough of it in her padawan days to last a lifetime. Simply looking at it made her queasy. Quickly, the Master glanced around the cafeteria, eyes scanning the crowd.. It wasn't hard to spot her padawan in the midst of others, alone. She strode over, heading for the seat next to him. Had he eaten already?
"Hello Alain. Eaten yet?"
She asked casually, leaning against the table though not sitting down. Her expression was stony, as usual, though her words were warm enough. She hadn't known her padawan long, and was looking forward to their first training session..

As the feeling of recognition set upon him, Alain felt his mouth twitch. Master Hinata Riya. His Master, to be accurate. Years had passed since they first met, still did the strange flutter of anticipation come as a surprise each time. Her appearance stated training or excursion, and either of these was highly welcomed in the padawan’s world. Too few days were spent outside the Temples, and those that were, were too short. As often, there was no particular warmth in her greeting. “Hello Alain. Eaten yet?”
Strangely enough, considering he very well knew the importance of the proper meal, the sensation of hunger was not one he currently felt. ”No, Master, but I ate an extensive breakfast; there is really no need for such a thing as this superfluous lunch.” In the unnatural pause, he eyed the food speculatively. What was it, this green splatter? Squaring his shoulders, green eyes were lifted once more. “May I enquire as to why you asked?”

Gets to the point, doesn't he? The thought ran dryly through Hinata's mind, and the same type of smile appeared faintly on her lips. The Master sat down next to Alain, tilting her head in a way that made it seem she was observing him. She was, though it was more of a reminiscing expression on her features than an interested one, and her piercing gaze was softened. Hinata's gaze travelled to the green glop on Alain's plate, and back to the boy himself.
"Hmm.."
She began, drawing out the moment with a sly look on her face. She wasn't the least bit annoyed, just a tad amused, as she always was with Alain's inability to control himself. It was all good though, as patience usually came with age. She was certainly an exception, perhaps he would be too..
"Manners, you know. I came to tell you that we'll be heading to Geonosis in a bit, perhaps next month. There are some things I would like to do there.."
She said with a grin, clearly showing her almost childish anticipation. Hinata wasn't one for spectulating, nor was she a thinker. She preferred action, no matter what kind it was. Alain was similar to her in some ways, and perhaps that's why she chose him. The master wasn't sure, even to this day..

There came no instantaneous reply, simple a mystic smile, after which followed a seating next to him. This action woke Alain’s expectations, yet his mildly questioning look did not falter. He took it for granted that she was about to elaborate on the term, but Master Riya seemed more interested in surveying him. Back still straight, he remained frozen. After a brief moment, he deciding he had been perused long enough. Lips were in the middle of parting as she spoke – or speculated. “Hmm…” She very well knew of his impatience, and he interpreted it as a minor test. Once again mute, the padawan met her gaze with a levelled look. “Manners, you know. I came to tell you that we'll be heading to Geonosis in a bit, perhaps next month. There are some things I would like to do there…”
Now that was interesting. Geonosis? A search proved he had no recollection of any such place. Quickly, a mental note was written, indicating he ought to find information as quickly as possible. “An excursion,” he mused, a crooked smile drawing itself across his face. Already now did the yearning float through his body. For how long had he trained inside? “Is it any of my business why we shall venture to that particular planet, Master?”

There really wasn't a debate as to whether or not she'd tell him, it was more a question of when. Hinata kept her thoughts and feelings close to her, hardly ever making them known. She wasn't afraid of ridicule or anything of the type, simply afraid that it would become the latest temple gossip. As a master, she liked to keep a certain amount of.. dignity and anonymity. Besides, it was just plain annoying. However, if she wanted help, she would have to tell him what she knew. Besides, he was her padawan, after all, they were a team now..
"Well, there have been some strange activities around Geonosis - dissapearances, ships wrecked, etc. I have a feeling that it's no mere coincidence. In fact, I think the Shadow Jedi are behind it. We need a few Jedi to go investigate."
She replied calmly, a small frown now etched upon her features. They didn't have much time to waste. Lives were being taken, simply by venturing close to the system. Were the Shadow Jedi trying to draw Jedi in, or trying to keep others out?

"Well, there have been some strange activities around Geonosis - dissapearances, ships wrecked, etc.” This caused the padawan to twitch his toes involuntarily. “I have a feeling that it's no mere coincidence. In fact, I think the Shadow Jedi are behind it. We need a few Jedi to go investigate." Though his facial expression revealed none of the kind, Alain was perhaps overly excited at the prospect of meeting someone he could match skills with. All his days had he spent training for it, and, seemingly, the previous excursions had not been of quite this size.
Shadow-jedi? He had heard of them a long time ago, and perhaps had he hoped that such a day would come, when he could face them. To see if his training had been successful, the see what they knew, to see who knew most.. The training issue was hopefully satisfactory. The woman in front of him had helped achieving a lot, of course. Without her guiding he would not have been who he was now – though his ego wanted to contradict just that.
“Will we be leaving alone? Master?”

Alain was good at hiding himself. Hinata wasn't overly surprised at this fact, though it certainly wasn't a pleasant surprise. Those who hid their hearts were certainly wise, though it ensured that no one else could help you - even when you're in need. The master felt the boy's anticipation, sensed the thirst for action - the need to discover something new. It was only natural for him to wish to do so. Overlooking this particular trait, the master focused on observing him a little further. It wasn't hard to aggravate padawans; simply stare at them a while and frown, or perhaps simply fill your expression with a void. Increases anxiety rate by one thousand percent.
A small, teasing smile filled Hinata's expression, and the master stood, inclining her head slightly towards the east exit. She had a playful expression, though there was something about those vivid jade eyes that gave it away. She had no intention of answering Alain's questions further. Besides, a little bit of mystery was fun.
Perhaps.. Clean up, and meet me in the hangar.. I have a surprise for you.
She replied indifferently, heading out the door without a backwards glance..

Once again the question was followed by silence, yet now more pressing than ever. The green eyes were once again sweeping over him, and now he knew – or believed – she was trying to outdo him. Alain’s knowledge of her past was positively flawed; nevertheless did he have a nagging suspicion that she herself must have experienced something similar. Years had passed since their first meeting, years that had been filled with relentless training and learning – in addition to much frustration from his part. And now she was, as she had done countless times, testing his patience. Master Riya was well aware of his blemish, and he himself knew it would cause him problems later, if not altered straight away.. Feeling the familiar anticipation well up inside him, he doubted this form of help would work.
"Perhaps.. Clean up, and meet me in the hangar.. I have a surprise for you.” Before he could respond in any way, she rose and walked away. A blinking, lightly confused padawan was left, his dark eyes following her. Interesting. Moments later, he too stepped out of the main doors.
